Toolroom Machinist

Location: Minworth

Contract: Permanent

We are looking for a CNC Machinist to join our clients growing team in Minworth.
A CNC Miller is predominantly involved in the manufacture of Plastic Injection Mould tools but also Jigs, Fixtures and gauges utilizing Hurco milling machines.

It would be helpful if you can programme Hurco machines. There is opportunity for you to develop your skills in off-line 3-axis CAM cutter path creation and use other CNC machinery.

You will be expected to accurately Set up work and cutters and program CNC machines efficiently and effectively to producing finished work that is checked by yourself to time set deadlines. You must adhere to all machine maintenance and machine cleanliness procedures. This requires the application of a broad range of activities including the interpretation of Engineering drawings and technical instructions and the use of hand, machine and automated computer controlled machine tools and measuring equipment.

Role Responsibilities – Toolroom Machinist

  • Maintain standards of Housekeeping and Health & Safety.
  • Manufacture of new tooling to engineering drawings in line with timing plans.
  • Carrying out proactive maintenance and up keep on milling machines.
  • Liaise with toolmakers, Cad/Cam programmers and Designers.
  • Investigate issues to find root causes passing information back to the design department and management so issues can be
  • avoided in future.
  • Maintain tooling to the correct standards and keep stock of all tools and holders.
  • Reporting of any concerns, issues and repairs.
  • Working in a systematic fashion following any instructions available,
  • All work checked before taking off.
  • Maintain cutters and equipment.
  • Maintain working area to a high standard. Working to 5S’s
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Work to the high tolerances

An ideal candidate for the Toolroom Machinist role would have:

  • Adhere to company quality awareness.
  • Meeting Health and Safety standards supporting others to do the same
  • Assist other areas of the business when required to carry out the same or similar tasks
  • Any other reasonable Engineering duties required
  • Personal Attributes for the role
  • Must be a team player
  • Must be a self-starting individual, capable of working to tight tolerances either individually or as part of the team
