This market leading engineering company are recruiting for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their team in Birmingham. The company manufacture and supply a range of specialist products to various industries across the globe.

Job Summary:

  • To provide a professional engineering & maintenance support through the application of appropriate expertise, knowledge, and experience. 
  • To focus on the preparation of design calculations, in accordance with all relevant standards and legislation adopting all necessary standard formats and procedures.
  • To focus on the financial aspects of contracts which include the final project valuations; preparation of project briefs and material and carry out presentations to client.
  • Ensure improvements are made with regards to reliability.
  • Perform RCA’s (Root Cause Analysis) of issues.
  • Support, mentor and provide guidance to the area maintenance personnel.
  • Perform in-depth planning and monitoring of activities during periods of planned downtime.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Work towards understand all Electrical Principles and a good understanding of Process control.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical workings would be ideal.
  • Work towards understand of all EHS aspects of engineering, including CDM, HAZOP and contractor control.
  • To project manage engineering installations using appropriate planning and budget management tools.
  • To assist in improving Plant and equipment “up-time”.
  • Review tender documents from third party suppliers.
  • Manage budgets of all aspects of any project.
  • Follow installation of projects with training of on-site personnel, completion of all documentation and project files.
  • To be able to review and critically analyze engineering drawings.
  • To be able to follow drawing office systems for filing of drawings etc.
  • To have a high competency of IT usage i.e. Microsoft Word and internal systems. 
  • To be capable of working with and supervise contractors and on-site personnel during installation.
  • Attention to detail.
  • To be able to work within and lead teams.
  • Support area maintenance teams with issues and breakdowns.
  • Proactive approach and be self-motivated to achieve goals and targets.

Qualifications

You have: (required) 

  • HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience or a strong desire to work within a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise at all levels.
  • Leadership experience is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Technical knowledge within the areas of heavy engineering and fast paced production environments.
  • Ability to analyze technically complex problems and develop the most appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to work with others and positively influence a team along with a proven record of implementing change in an engineering and maintenance environment.
